The mission of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.)
is to improve public understanding of insurance -- what it
does and how it works. For more than 40 years, the I.I.I.
has provided definitive insurance information. Today, the
I.I.I. is recognized by the media, governments, regulatory
organizations, universities and the public as a primary
source of information, analysis and referral concerning
insurance. Each year, the I.I.I. works on more than 3,700
news stories, handles more than 6,000 requests for
information and answers nearly 50,000 questions from
consumers. In addition to direct contact with the media,
individuals and organizations, the I.I.I. publishes a host
of helpful pamphlets and books ranging in subjects from 9

The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education
(LIFE) is a non-profit organization designed to address the
public's growing need for information and education on
life, health, and disability insurance. LIFE also seeks to
remind people of the important role agents perform in
helping families, businesses, and individuals find the
insurance products that best fit their needs. LIFE was
formed in 1994 by seven insurance groups, representing
160,000 agents who saw a strong need for public education.
Since then, LIFE has developed a diverse educational
program which educates consumers and empowers them with the
knowledge needed to make informed insurance decisions.To

The National Organization of Life and Health Insurance
Guaranty Associations (NOLHGA) is a voluntary association
composed of the life and health insurance guaranty
associations of all 50 states, the District of Columbia,
and Puerto Rico. NOLHGA was founded in 1983 when the life
and health insurance industry decided there was a need for
a more efficient mechanism for coordinating and resolving
the often complex issues resulting from the insolvency of
an insurer licensed to do business in multiple states.
MIB Group, Inc. ("MIB") is a membership corporation
(sometimes described as an "industry trade association")
owned by approximately 470 member insurance companies. Once
known as the "Medical Information Bureau," MIB has been in
continuous operation for over 105 years pursuing its
primary mission of detecting and deterring fraud that may
occur in the course of obtaining life, health, disability
income, critical illness, and long-term care insurance.
Consumers have long had a right to obtain information from
MIB about the contents of their MIB "consumer file."
