Tony’s Take: 10 Things Changing the Way We Think About Money

Jul 03, 2025

Thanks for being part of The Get Ready Movement—changing how we think about money, one idea at a time.

Every week, I spotlight what’s shaping the future of financial literacy—from emerging trends and practical tools to the people transforming how we talk about (and take action around) money.

1. One Thing to Share This Week: Weekly Action Prompt

📌 Action: Week 27: Review your auto insurance.

💭 Tony’s Take: Review your auto insurance to make sure you have the right coverage and eligible discounts.

2. Strategy of the week:

💡 Reevaluate your needs and then compare to your coverages, including the deductibles, exclusions, and coverage limits.

📉 If you purchased the minimum coverage required by law or chose the policy without guidance, you may not have all of the coverage you need.

💭 Tony’s Take: Insurance companies offer a range of discounts if you meet requirements. Make sure that you’re getting all of the discounts that you’re eligible for.

3. Big Question to Ask

❓Do you have the right auto insurance?

💭 Tony’s Take: Be sure your coverage matches your needs and overall plan/goals.

4. Curious how AI will change your relationship with money?

🔹 AI is transforming the world of money.
🔹 Human advisors aren’t going away—creativity and empathy still matter.
🔹 AI can enhance the financial planning process, not replace it.
🔹 Offloading repetitive tasks = more time for meaningful conversations.

💭 Tony’s Take: While AI will bring significant change for advisors, there will continue to be a need for advisors who can communicate and empower their clients.

5. Is Your Family Prepared? Long-Term Care Advice You Need

Common misconceptions, helpful family considerations, and how to start the discussion with loved ones. What should we be aware of and thinking about?

💭 Tony’s Take: Don’t wait for a crisis to talk about long-term care with your family. Planning ahead means fewer surprises and more dignity for everyone involved.

6. How Likely Are You to Have an Extended Long-Term Care Need?

Troubleshooting a risk factor that’s the ‘elephant in the room’ for retirement planning. How worried should older adults be, and how should they plan for that risk?

💭 Tony’s Take: Health care and potential long term care needs should be part of your retirement and aging plan.

7.  Money and Happiness

The job of money is to support our happiness, not be the source of it. True happiness is about peace, well-being, and contentment.

💭 Tony’s Take: Having more money may make your life easier, however it won’t make you happy. Use it to support the life that truly brings you joy.

8. Work at the Intersection of Money and Purpose

The beautiful, complex journey of building a career that actually fits. We talk about what it really means to be someone who craves both meaning and stability in their work, and how energy, money, and purpose intersect.

💭 Tony’s Take: The right career brings both income and meaning. Aligning money with purpose is a powerful form of wealth.

9. From Debt to Wealth: How Bernadette Joy Took Control of Her Financial Future

Bernadette shares her commitment to closing the wealth gap for women and empowering others, especially women, to confidently self-promote and lead their financial lives

💭 Tony’s Take: Understand and advocating for closing the gender and racial wealth gaps will help all of us. We can all do our part.

10. I’m a financial therapist: This common issue can lead to a ‘fear of success’—here’s how to handle it

When unaddressed, financial trauma can lead to a fear of success and prevent you from achieving important goals. Here’s how to handle it.

💭 Tony’s Take: Unpacking your money story clears the path for success—and helps you rewrite you future..
