Tony’s Take: 10 Things Changing the Way We Think About Money
Thanks for being part of The Get Ready Movement—changing how we think (and talk) about money.
Each week, I spotlight what’s shaping the future of financial fluency—from trends and tools to the people reframing how we apply, communicate, and make intentional choices around money.

1. Week 29 Action: Review Your Health and Medicare Insurance
đź’ˇ Review your options so you have the optimal coverage, not just the cheapest.
💠Tony’s Take: With so many options, especially for Medicare, it’s critical to choose a plan that aligns with your needs and offers the optimal balance of coverage, deductible and premium.
2. Strategy of the week
đź’ˇCalculate your total true health care cost. This includes your total annual premium, co-pays, deductible and out of pocket health care costs.
💠Tony’s Take: At open enrollment, decide whether you need to change your deductible and co-pays. Your break-even point may surprise you. Sometimes, a lower deductible and co-pay—even with a higher premium—is the most efficient option. Run the numbers.
3. Big Question to Ask
❓Does the money you save in insurance premiums justify taking on a higher risk, along with a higher deductible?
💠Tony’s Take: Don’t just focus on the monthly premium. Consider how often you use care and what costs you may face in a worst-case scenario.
4. Shift Your Mindset To Build Lasting Family Wealth

🔹 How generational wealth builds opportunities for your children
🔹 Wealth preservation is important for everyone
🔹 Planning ahead means creating a blueprint for life’s uncertainties
💠Tony’s Take: Building wealth is one thing. Preserving it for the next generation? That takes intention and strategy.

5. Financial literacy is dead: Why it’s time to raise the bar and aim for financial fluency (and freedom)
Financial fluency is the ability to understand, apply and communicate about money in a way that’s personal, intentional and strategic. Fluency goes deeper than just numbers.
💠Tony’s Take: Financial literacy is foundational—but fluency is transformational. It’s about confidence, clarity, and knowing the rules of the game.

6. Less Pressure, More Purpose: Building A Life That Feels As Good As It Looks
Why accomplishments alone don't guarantee fulfillment. Subconscious beliefs quietly shape your relationship with money, health, and love.
💠Tony’s Take: Happiness and fulfillment come from having purpose. Money is a tool, not the goal.

🔹 Why client-centric planning means seeing the full picture
💠Tony’s Take: Better outcomes start when we focus on client goals—not products.

8. How Money Mindset Shapes Wealth
This candid discussion tackles the shame, myths, and realities behind our relationship with money. Emotions and mindset shape your financial habits and retirement planning.
💠Tony’s Take: How we feel about money impacts our decisions. Understanding our money mindset helps us make better decisions.

9. Caring for a Spouse: Navigating the Financial, Legal, and Emotional Journey
This conversation shines a light on caregiving, planning ahead, and the power of art and community.
💠Tony’s Take: The odds are high that we may become a caregiver for our spouse (or vice versa). Taking the time to prepare now will help you emotionally, financially and logistically.

10. Workers Overwhelmingly Call on Employers to Offer Lifetime Income in 401(k) Plans
93% of workers with 401(k’s) say it’s important for their retirement plans to provide options for converting savings into guaranteed monthly retirement income that never runs out. And, 87% think employers have a responsibility to help employees achieve retirement income security.
💠Tony’s Take: A shared goal in retirement is to not outlive our money. While the concept of a 401(k) is helpful for accumulating assets for retirement, the concept of a guaranteed income in retirement is really what most people want.
