Happy Friday. Thanks for being part of The Get Ready Money Club.

Here are 10 things I recommend this week to help you change the way you think about money from trusted sources:

(This newsletter is 1,512 words, a 6 minute read.)

  1. Week 13 Action Item: Reflect on the quarter.

💭 Tony’s Take: When was the last time you took a moment to recognize your progress? It’s easy to move from one goal to the next without pausing, but reflection is key to growth.

👉 Take a deep breath and think about all that you’ve accomplished—big or small.

2. Mindset Insight:

👉  Be gentle with yourself. If you didn’t meet every goal, that’s okay. What matters is what you do next. Keep going, and give yourself credit for the steps you have taken.

a. Creating the RIGHT Money Mindset: 7 Declarations with Shehara Wooten. Practical ways to replace limiting beliefs with empowering thoughts that help you build the financial future you deserve.

💭 Tony’s Take: How we talk to ourselves about money impacts our decisions. Changing the way we think about money empowers us to take control.

👉Watch it on YouTube (here)

3. Tactical Tip – Reflect on your progress with the Get Ready Habits.

✅ Goals Defined – Are they clear, relevant, and time-bound?

✅ Educate Yourself – Keep learning and applying your knowledge.

✅ Think About How You Think – A positive mindset drives intentional action.

✅ Relevancy to You – Align your financial choices with your values.

✅ Evaluate Your Options – Choose wisely and be mindful of costs.

✅ Assemble the Pieces – Understand how everything fits together.

✅ Detailed Focus – Review the details and know when to seek help.

✅ Yearly Review – Stay updated and follow the *Get Ready Method.

😎 Bottom Line: Progress isn’t just about checking off boxes—it’s about learning, adapting, and staying committed.

a. Financial calendar reminders

  • April 1: IRAs and 401(k)s have a required minimum distribution (RMD) of April 1 if you turn age 73 during the calendar year. If you miss the deadline, you will be assessed with a penalty. Please note that there may be exceptions.

a. 📝 Resources:

Get Ready Money Club Members:

  • The Get Ready Discussion Guide. What are your accomplishments over the last 3 months?

4. Podcast Updates:

a. Change Your Relationship With Money. In this episode of The Get Ready Money Podcast, I spoke with Misty Lynch about changing the way we think about our relationship with money.

💭 Key Takeaways:

🔹 Be accepting of the way things are.

🔹 Don’t let labels hold you back, it’s important to not think of things as good or bad.

🔹 Question your beliefs.

🔹 Couples should be open minded about what’s important to each other.

🔹 How to overcome fear with our money.

🔹 Ask yourself what’s the worst case scenario? It’s oftentimes not that bad.

👉  Watch or listen to the podcast (here). The podcast is also available on YouTube and your favorite podcast app.

b. Accelerate Your Wealth Growth Now! In this episode of The Get Ready Money Podcast, I spoke with Tanya Taylor about changing the way we think about money and growing your wealth.

💭 Key Takeaways:

🔹 Dreams to Disability.

🔹 Every woman can take control of their money.

🔹 Don’t be fearful.

🔹 Why we need to shift our mind completely about our money stories.

🔹 Align our spending with our goals.

🔹 The importance of a safety net with the right amount of disability insurance.

👉  Watch or listen to the podcast (here). The podcast is also available on YouTube and your favorite podcast app.

5.  Media Spotlight: How to Protect Your Money During a Coup. I shared my thoughts about dealing with uncertainty including hold steady for now and not panic.  The best recommendation is to monitor the situation and not overreact.

💭 Tony’s Take: When we are facing significant change and disruption, it’s important to review our financial plan to be prepared for worst case scenarios (always a good idea).

👉 Read the article by Kaz Weida for Dame Magazine (here)

Note:  Whether there is a coup taking place is beyond my scope of expertise. What is clear is that we are living in a time of uncertainty.

6. Women’s History Month:

a. Equal Pay Day Calendar. Equal Pay Day 2025 is on March 25 and marks the current state of the gender pay gap for women: 83% for full-time, year-round workers and 75% for all workers (including part-time and seasonal).

💭 Tony’s take: This needs to be addressed by all business owners and executives. People who do the same work, should make the same amount regardless of gender or race. The racial pay gap is even wider.

👉  Check out the calendar (here).

b. From $24K to $2.5M: How Women Can Build Wealth with Audrey Faust and Stoy Hall on the No BS Wealth Podcast. Breaking the Fear: How Women Can Take Control of Their Finances.

💭 Tony’s take: This an insightful conversation on how women can be empowered to change the way they think about money with practical strategies.

👉  Watch it on YouTube (here).

c. 20 Women Who Made American Money History by Brynne Conroy for Pocketsmith. Throughout American history, women have played a significant role in shaping the nation's financial landscape — often in ways that haven't received widespread recognition.

💭 Tony’s take: An insightful overview of 20 women whose contributions to money and finance have helped influence systems and challenge the status quo.

d. Bonus: Financial Literacy Month Challenge (for women)

Financial literacy has a direct impact on career advancement and earning potential.

A recent TIAA Institute study found that individuals with higher financial literacy earn 40% more over their lifetimes than those with lower financial literacy.

Yet many professional women report feeling uncomfortable with financial terminology—the very language that impacts our:

  • Salary negotiations
  • Investment decisions
  • Retirement planning
  • Career advancement opportunities

This April (Financial Literacy Month), I'm participating in the Fluent in Finances Challenge—a FREE 4-week program designed specifically for busy professional women who want to strengthen their financial vocabulary without the jargon.

✅ Just 5 minutes daily

✅ Flexible formats (audio, video, text)

✅ Clear, practical explanations of essential terms

✅ Bonus resources for implementation

Registration closes March 30th. Register (here)

As professionals, we understand the value of continuous learning. This is one investment of your time that could yield significant returns.

7. Taxes:

a. Dirty Dozen tax scams for 2025: IRS warns taxpayers to watch out for dangerous threats. These scams can occur throughout the year as fraudsters look for ways to steal money, personal information and data.

💭 Tony’s take: Being curious and asking questions will help you avoid scams. If you don’t understand something or you feel pressured, walk away.

👉  Learn about the Dirty Dozen tax scams on the IRS website (here).

b. Why the Tax System Is Not Built for You and How to Win Anyway - with Dr. Sherry Peel Jackson and Naseema McElroy on the Financially Intentional Podcast. Dr. Jackson shares how the wealthy use tax laws to their advantage and how regular people can do the same.

💭 Tony’s take: Everyone has the right to minimize their taxes with tax planning.

👉  Watch it on YouTube (here).

8. Widows

a. Love, Loss and Life After - A Practical Guide for Widows by Kathleen Rehl for Sixty and Me. A look at the journey of the three stages of widowhood: Grief, Growth and Grace.

💭 Tony’s take: It’s important for couples to plan in advance. This is a great resource for widows to navigate after the loss of a spouse (or domestic partner).

👉  Read it (here)

b. Widowed at 35 with Patrina Wisdom and Christine Luken on the Money Is Emotional Podcast. How vulnerability can be your strength. And how to master your money mindset.

💭 Tony’s take: Becoming a widow requires taking over your financial life among so many other changes. Having the right mindset will empower you.

👉  Check out the conversation (here).

9. Visualizing every day of the US stock market for the last 10 years by David Crowther for Sherwood.

💭 Tony’s take: It’s important to take a long view of the market and not react to daily fluctuations. This is an insightful overview of the last 10 years.

👉  Check it out (here).

10. Resources:

a. Plootus will provide you the right investment allocations for most 401k, 403b, 457 and TSP plans that can save you fees and improve overall return.

💭 Tony’s take: Plootus is a helpful resource to help you optimize your retirement plan allocations. Keeping your fees low is an easy way to improve the performance of your investments.

👉 Learn more about about Plootus (here).

💭 Tony’s take: Bolder Money combines a blend of AI, human coaches and expert created content to build better habits and increase confidence.

👉  Check out Bolder Money (here)

Closing Thought Bubble:

🔥 Not everyone believes in climate change… but insurance companies do.

Why? Because they’re the ones putting real money behind their beliefs.

💰 As climate risks rise, insurers are adjusting premiums, pulling out of high-risk areas, and rethinking coverage altogether. They don’t have the luxury of debating—it’s already affecting their bottom line.

So, if the companies built on risk assessment are taking climate change seriously… shouldn’t we?
